NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --Â Longwood women's tennis traveled east to take on Christopher Newport University, winning the doubles point and singles matches by a score of 6-1. The win marks the second consecutive dual meet victory for the Lancer women.

Although the Lancers dropped a hotly contested No. 1 doubles match, they responded in kind, claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and 3.
Maria Saez and
Karina Rizvanova took the clinching doubles point with an 8-1 win, following
Sophia Marchetta and
Wiktoria Czerny to lead the first doubles win of 8-0.

The great start was just the beginning for Longwood, as they took the next five out of six points in singles.Â

Maria Saez earned the first singles point with a thrilling 7-5, 1-6, 10-8 win at No. 2.
Sophia Marchetta only dropped two games in her match, leading to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3.Â

Karina Rizvanova followed suit with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4 followed by a dominant 6-1, 6-1 showing from
Wiktoria Czerny.

Nina Hederich's 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 sealed the 6-1 decision for Longwood.
