The First Pitch:
  • Longwood will spend another weekend on the road, this time heading to Waco, Texas for the Getterman Classic.
  • The Lancers will face the likes of #1 Oklahoma, (RV) Baylor, Army, and Stephen F. Austin this weekend.
  • Longwood will play eight teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in the NFCA Top 25 this season.
  • In Longwood's Division-I era, the Lancers have played Army twice and lead the series 2-0. Their last matchup against the Black Knights came in 2011.
  • The weekend's games will mark the first ever matchups between Longwood and Oklahoma, Baylor and Stephen F. Austin.
Last Time Out:
  • Longwood returned from the JoAnne Graf Classic in Tallahassee, Florida posting a 1-3 record across  four games. The Lancers were originally slated to play five games, but weather forced the weekend's schedule to shift multiple times.
  • Longwood's win was quite a big one, as the Lancers shocked #4 Florida State in a 5-4 win on Saturday. The win was the highest ranked victory in Longwood athletics history.
  • In her first ever start, Maggie Chapin no hit FSU through four innings of play. The freshman hurler posted a .095 batting average against across her three appearances.
  • The Lancers also took on the Purdue Boilermakers during the weekend's games, falling 2-1 and 3-1 on Friday and Sunday.
  • In their final game of the weekend, the Lancers fell to #4 Florida State 5-0 in a rematch of Longwood's upset thriller.
