LANCER LEADOFF
  • Longwood welcomes Bryant University for a two day, three game series
  • The Lancers snapped what was a 10 game losing streak on Wednesday
  • Bryant University has lost six in a row. Three were against No.24 Old Dominion. The Bulldogs three wins this year came against Nationally ranked East Carolina
  • Longwood will be using the same starting three that they've used the prior three weekends
  • The Lancers have allowed more than five runs in ten out of 14 games this season 
  • Offensively, the Lancers rank in the top five in the Big South of every major statistical category, including triples, home runs and BA. Longwood currently leads the Big South in doubles and total hits
THE LAST TIME OUT
  • Longwood currently has a 2-1 record over Bryant University in their history
  • This will be the first time the two sides have met since 2004
PROBABLE PITCHERS
  • Andrew Potojecki will be making his fourth Friday start in a row. Poto currently has 16 innings pitched, giving up 25 hits and sports 6.75 ERA
  • Kevin Warunek is getting the nod for his fourth career start. The freshman southpaw has 15.1 innings worked this year, and has a 5.87 ERA. Warunek is 1-0 in his young career
  • Dominick D'Ercole gets the fourth straight Sunday start for the Lancers. The redshirt sophomore has eight strikeouts in 9.1 innings pitched, and only given up eight hits this season. 
PLAYER(S) TO WATCH
  • Gregory Ryan is coming off a midweek performance that saw him slam back to back home runs against Charlotte and Saint Peter's. The junior transfer is riding a five game hit streak where he's batted .304, recorded seven hits and seven RBI
  • Michael Peterson has started every game for the Lancers and is currently enjoying a .390 batting average. A dangerous base runner, Peterson already has nine stolen bases this season, and is yet to be caught. Peterson is first in the Big South in stolen bases, and eighth in hits
SCHEDULE TREND
  • Longwood continue their home stand following the three game series with Bryant. Next weeks opponents include Norfolk State and the start of Big South play in UNC Asheville
