The Opening Tip

  • Longwood ends their seven-day break from Big South Conference play with their first rematch of the 2019- 20 season as the Lancers travel to UNC Asheville.

  • The Lancers have only one game separating the 73-56 victory over the Bulldogs in Willett Hall and the rematch in Kimmel Arena.

  • Senior Dayna Rouse is three points shy of becoming the 22nd Lancer in program history to record 1,000 career points. Rouse would only be the fourth Lancers to record 1,000 career points since reclassifying Division I in 2004.

  • Longwood is one Big South victory from the second-most conference victories in program history, and three conference victories from matching the program best, eight Big South victories, set in 2012-13.


Last Time Out

  • Four of Hampton's five starters finished in double-figures with Nylah Young leading the Pirates with 29 points to overcome three Lancers in double-figures,including a double-double by Kyla McMakin, leading Hampton to a 72-55 victory.
  • Freshman Anne-Hamilton LeRoy led the Lancers offense with 16 points, and fellow freshman Kyla McMakin recorded her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
  • All-Big South Dayna Rouse fell three points shy of eclipsing 1,000 career points, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
  • Longwood committed a season-high 28 turnovers against the Pirates in which Hampton converted to 28 points.


By the Numbers

  • Longwood is second in the Big South in scoring averaging 66.6 points per game, and scoring in conference play at 68.1 points per game. The Lancers lead the conference in field goal percentage converting .403 percent of shots taken.

  • Pacing the offense for the Lancers is the duo of freshman Kyla McMakin and senior Dayna Rouse.McMakin ranks second in the league in scoring,averaging 17.1 points per game, while Rouse is fourth in the league at 15.4 points per game.

  • Dayna Rouse finds herself in the top-10 in the Big South in field goal percentage (.532) scoring (15.4), rebounding (7.3), blocks (1.9), steals (1.6),and minutes (33.1) per game.

  • Transfer Tra'Dayja Smith not only leads the Lancers and the Big South but ranks sixth in Division I averaging 6.5 assists per game.

  • Akila Smith and Dayna Rouse lead Longwood's defense. Smith and Rouse are the No. 1 and No. 2 shot blockers in the Big South, with Smith averaging 2.1 blocks per game.

  • The Lancers' as a team rank 10th in Division I in blocked shots averaging 5.7 blocks per game.Longwood has recorded 108 blocks on the season and is the sixth Longwood team to record 100+ blocks dating back to the 2008-2009 season.

  • Longwood is one of two programs in the Big South to have two women (Kyla McMakin 17.1 ppg, Dayna Rouse 15.4 ppg) in the top-five in scoring and one of two teams to have three woman averaging double-figures (Anne-Hamilton LeRoy (11.2 ppg).


Series History

  •  Longwood and UNC Asheville meet for the second time this season with the Lancers defending home- court on Jan. 25, 2020 defeating the Bulldogs,73-56
  •  Freshman Kyla McMakin played all 40 minutes, leading the Lancers with 25 points, including three treys in the win.
  • Dayna Rouse recorded her sixth double-double of the 2019-20 season against the Bulldogs, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
