Lancer Leadoff
  • Longwood is in the midst of a nine-game road trip that continues with a three-game series at High Point after the team lost 4-3 on a walk-off triple at George Mason.

  • Longwood lost 4-3 on a walk-off RBI triple at George Mason after a tight game on Tuesday where neither team led by more than one run. De'Andre Pitts went 4-4 at the plate, and Jack Schnell went 2-3 for Longwood while the pitching staff combined to allow only one earned run (four runs total).
Scouting High Point
  • Longwood and High Point have split their previous 30 meetings evenly, with each team winning 15 times. The two teams have played in five of the previous six seasons (they did not play in 2017). Longwood last won the season series in 2013, although the Lancers did top High Point in the Big South playoffs in 2016 18-13.
  • High Point lost 14-9 at Wake Forest on Tuesday after losing two of three to Winthrop over the weekend. The Panthers won the third game 7-4 to deny Winthrop a sweep after losing the first two 8-2 and 7-1.
  • High Point is hitting .250 as a team, but Daniel Millwee has been the team's best hitter by posting a team-best .309 average with six homers and 25 RBI, and he has a .402 on-base percentage. The Panthers have hit 21 homers this season, and eight players have hit at least one. JJ Woodard is second on the team with four (along with a .271 average), and Joe Johnson has hit three (.299 average).
  • Harrison Smith has been a steady hand as a starter while posting a 2.95 ERA (best among starters) to go with a team-best 37 strikeouts in 36.2 innings in seven starts, eight appearances. Jacob Winger (3 saves) has been one of the best out of the bullpen with a 1.10 ERA in 10 outings while striking out 17 in 16.1 innings. Cooper Jeffers (11.00 ERA) has made 11 appearances while Jack Nathan (4.05), KJ Wells (4.26) and Garrett Letchworth (9.00) have made 10.
