Leading Off
•Longwood continues a stretch of seven consecutive games on the road, all in the state of Virginia, to close out the month of April.
•Longwood has posted a 6-8 record in April, the best record for the Lancers in a month this season.
•In April Longwood is hitting .234 and averaging 5.6 runs in the month, up 11 points from the team's season average and more than 1.4 more runs per game.

Last Time Out
•Longwood enters the weekend off a midweek loss at VCU Wednesday.
•The Lancers took a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning, but VCU scored six runs in the home half of the first en route to a 12-2 VCU win.
•In the loss Grant Keller stayed hot with a 2-4 performance, lifting his April average to a team-best .400 and his season average to a season-best .280.

By The Numbers
•For his outing against UNC Asheville on April 14 Tyler Morgan was named Big South Pitcher of the Week April 16.
•Morgan tossed a complete game shutout, Longwood's first since Aaron Myers did it against Ohio University in 2014. Morgan struck out 13 batters and allowed just five base runners. 
•Morgan leads the Big South with a .192 batting average against.
•Longwood is on a home run kick as of late with 14 of its 16 home runs on the season coming in the last 17 games. The Lancers are 7-10 in that stretch.
Sammy Miller hit a game-tying homer against Radford and then hit a grand slam the following Tuesday against VMI, his first two career homers.
Nate Blakeney picked up his first two home runs the week starting April 9.
Antwaun Tucker, Blakeney, and Justin Mitchell combined for Longwood's first three-homer game of the season in the series finale against UNC Asheville, a 5-0 win.
•Mitchell went deep again with a solo shot against James Madison and has three homers in the course of two weeks.
Sammy Miller, Justin Mitchell, and Antwaun Tucker each got in on the power party against Radford.
•Miller's home run in the eighth inning of the first game in Sunday's doubleheader - the first of Miller's career - tied the game at three. Miller then tagged a grand slam April 10 against VMI.
Nate Blakeney picked up his first homer of the season at VMI on April 10.
•Longwood has posted seven quality starts on the season with Cody Boydstun posting three in his first season as a starter.
•All three starting pitchers - Steven Farkas, Boydstun, and Michael Catlin - each picked up quality starts in the weekend series against Iona that began March 9. The three starting pitchers averaged 7.0 innings, one run, and seven strikeouts for the series.
•Farkas and Tyler Morgan each collected quality starts in shutout wins against UNC Asheville.
•Farkas struck out a school-record 14 batters in 7.0 scoreless innings on April 13.
•After Farkas' gem, Morgan struck out 13 batters in a complete game shutout for his first career quality start.
•Senior outfielder Sammy Miller is the team captain and Longwood's lead-off man. Miller reaches base at a rate of .409 (27-for-66) when leading off an inning, best on the team.
•Miller owns a team-best .309 average, is seventh in the Big South with a .448 on-base percentage, fifth and 31 walks drawn, and sixth with 15 steals.
Grant Keller went 2-for-4 against VCU to extend his torrid pace in April.
•Keller is hitting .400 (14-for-35) this April with a pair of doubles, seven RBI, and a .533 OBP.
•In April Sammy Miller is hitting .364 (16-for-44) with three doubles, his first two career homers, 10 RBI and 17 runs scored, plus 17 walks.
Steven Farkas struck out 12 batters in 6.0 scoreless innings March 9 against Iona and then struck out a program-record 14 against UNC Asheville on April 13. Farkas is second in the Big South with 73 strikeouts.
•The Lancers are second in the Big South with 368 as a team in 2018.
•Longwood led the Big South with 511 punchouts in 2017, breaking the previous school D-I record of 440.
•Junior right-handed relief pitcher Eric Harp picked up his first-career Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week award for his dominance at USC Upstate on March 7.
•Harp, a 6-foot-9 relief ace, tossed 4.0 shutout innings with one hit and one walk with 11 strikeouts. In the final game of the series Harp tossed 3.2 perfect innings, striking out nine of 11 batters faced.
Tyler Morgan picked up the Big South Pitcher of the Week award on April 16, becoming the 10th Lancer to win a weekly award.

Scouting Liberty
•Longwood and Liberty played in Farmville in 2017 with the Flames taking all three games.
•In the final game of the series Zach Potojecki pitched well in the loss, striking out 10 batters in 7.0 innings with five runs allowed, four earned on five hits and four walks, but took the loss in a 6-3 final.
•Liberty has the reigning Big South Player of the Year and Preseason Big South Player of the Year in D.J. Artis. The junior outfielder was a 2018 Preseason All-American and is a two-time First Team All-Conference selection. Artis is hitting .288, leads the Big South with 47 runs scored, and is second in the Big South with 12 doubles.
•Tre Todd, a junior catcher who transferred to Liberty from junior college, is a Triple Crown threat in the Big South, fourth in the league with a .361 batting average, third in the league with 10 home runs, and leading the Big South with 44 RBI. Todd leads the league in both on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
•Tyler Galazin is also hitting .300, second on the team with a .304 average.
•Garrett Price is the team's top pitcher, leading the league with a 2.00 ERA. Price has made a team-high 17 appearances and owns a 6-2 record with four saves. Price has 63 strikeouts and 16 walks in 45.0 innings pitched and is the only pitcher in the Big South top five in both wins and saves.
•Liberty leads the league in runs scored.
