Leading Off
•Campbell enters this weekend set the first-place squad in the Big South as the Lancers continue to fight to stay inside the top eight in conference to qualify for the Big South Tournament.
•is having a recent power surge with 11 of its 16 home runs coming in April and 14 homers in the last 13 games.
•In April Sammy Miller (.424), Grant Keller (.320) and Ryan Shull (.306) are each hitting above .300 (10 games).

Last Time Out
•Longwood was unable to get its offense going until late in the game against James Madison Tuesday.
•The Lancers scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth, but the furious rally fell short in the 10-5 loss.
•Five JMU scored were unearned as Longwood committed four errors.
•Longwood's offense is starting to pick up the pace, averaging seven runs per game in April.

By The Numbers
•On April 4 against George Mason John Gregory put together a career game to earn the win. In a game which George Mason scored 10 runs, Gregory tossed 4.1 scoreless innings with one hit and one walk allowed and struck out nine batters en route to his first career win.
•For his outing against UNC Asheville on April 14 Tyler Morgan was named Big South Pitcher of the Week April 16.
•Morgan tossed a complete game shutout, Longwood's first since Aaron Myers did it against Ohio University in 2014. Morgan struck out 13 batters and allowed just five base runners. 
•Morgan is second in the Big South with a .187 batting average against.
•Longwood is on a home run kick as of late with 14 of its 16 home runs on the season coming in the last 13 games. The Lancers are 7-6 in that stretch, hitting .255 as a team.
Sammy Miller hit a game-tying homer against Radford and then hit a grand slam the following Tuesday against VMI, his first two career homers.
Nate Blakeney picked up his first two home runs the week starting April 9.
Antwaun Tucker, Blakeney, and Justin Mitchell combined for Longwood's first three-homer game of the season in the series finale against UNC Asheville, a 5-0 win.
•Mitchell went deep again with a solo shot against James Madison and has three homers in the course of two weeks.
Sammy Miller, Justin Mitchell, and Antwaun Tucker each got in on the power party against Radford.
•Miller's home run in the eighth inning of the first game in Sunday's doubleheader - the first of Miller's career - tied the game at three. Miller then tagged a grand slam April 10 against VMI.
Nate Blakeney picked up his first homer of the season at VMI on April 10.
•Longwood has posted seven quality starts on the season with Cody Boydstun posting three in his first season as a starter.
•All three starting pitchers - Steven Farkas, Boydstun, and Michael Catlin - each picked up quality starts in the weekend series against Iona that began March 9. The three starting pitchers averaged 7.0 innings, one run, and seven strikeouts for the series.
•Farkas and Tyler Morgan each collected quality starts in shutout wins against UNC Asheville.
•Farkas struck out a school-record 14 batters in 7.0 scoreless innings on April 13.
•After Farkas' gem, Morgan struck out 13 batters in a complete game shutout for his first career quality start.
•Longwood scored a season-high 15 runs in its 15-12 win against UNC Asheville in game one on April 14. In that game the Lancers set season highs in runs (15), RBI (15), doubles (5), triples (2), and total bases (27).
•The Lancers set the season high with three home runs in game two of the doubleheader.
Sammy Miller went 3-for-5 against James Madison, continuing his torrid pace in April.
•Miller is hitting .424 (14-for-33) with two doubles, his first two career homers, 10 RBI and 15 runs scored, plus 11 walks.
•Shull, who hit .314 in April of 2017, is hitting .306 this April. Grant Keller is hitting .320 (8-for-25) this April.
Steven Farkas struck out 12 batters in 6.0 scoreless innings March 9 against Iona and then struck out a program-record 14 against UNC Asheville on April 13. Farkas is second in the Big South with 68 strikeouts.
Tyler Morgan struck out 13 in the series finale against UNC Asheville April 14, tossing a complete game shutout.
•The Lancers are third in the Big South with 337 as a team in 2018.
•Longwood led the Big South with 511 punchouts in 2017, breaking the previous school D-I record of 440.
•Junior right-handed relief pitcher Eric Harp picked up his first-career Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week award for his dominance at USC Upstate on March 7.
•Harp, a 6-foot-9 relief ace, tossed 4.0 shutout innings with one hit and one walk with 11 strikeouts. In the final game of the series Harp tossed 3.2 perfect innings, striking out nine of 11 batters faced.
Tyler Morgan picked up the Big South Pitcher of the Week award on April 16, becoming the 10th Lancer to win a weekly award.

Scouting Campbell
•Longwood and Campbell entered the series last year fighting for the final spot in the Big South Tournament. Campbell took two of three to eliminate the Lancers and finish eighth.
•Longwood took the final game of the season by a 7-5 final in 10 innings. Brandon Harvell ended his career with a game-winning RBI triple in the 10th as he tied his career high with four hits in the win.
•Campbell has the best record in Big South action behind one of the best pitching staffs in the league, leading the conference in ERA (4.46), opposing batting average (.242), strikeouts (354), and has let up the fewest home runs (18). Campbell returns five pitchers with starting experience from 2017 and didn't lose any.
•Campbell's top starter has been Allan Winans, who is second in the Big South with a 2.78 ERA in eight starts, nine overall appearances, and has posted 54 strikeouts in 45.1 innings with 13 walks.
•Michael Horrell is fourth in the league with a 3.09 ERA and has a 5-1 record.
•Four relief pitchers own sub-3.00 ERAs, led by Jack Yusko who has a 0.90 ERA in 12 outings.
•Tyson Messer has a team-high 18 appearances with six saves.
•Matthew Barefoot (.326) and Christian Jones (.301) are each hitting above .300. Jones leads the league in homers (11) and RBI (41).
