Leading Off
•Longwood enters the week riding its season-best four-game winning streak. The Lancers swept UNC Asheville over the weekend after picking up an 11-9 win at VMI last Tuesday.
•The sweep against UNC Asheville featured the first Longwood shutout wins of the season, the first three-homer game of the season in game two Saturday, and the Lancers set their season highs in runs and hits in game one Saturday.
Tyler Morgan was named Big South Pitcher of the Week after completing the sweep against UNC Asheville with a complete game shutout, striking out a career-high 13 batters. Morgan's gem also landed him College Sports Madness' Big South Player of the Week honors.
Steven Farkas also was spectacular against UNC Asheville, striking out a program-record 14 batters in game one.
•Lancers pitchers combined for 38 strikeouts in the three-game set.

Last Time Out
•Longwood swept UNC Asheville for the Lancers' first sweep. The Lancers took game one, 3-0, game two, 15-12, and game three, 5-0. The game one win featured 14 strikeouts from Steven Farkas, tying the program record. Tyler Morgan clinched the sweep with a complete game shutout, striking out 13.

By The Numbers
•For his outing against UNC Asheville on April 14 Tyler Morgan was named Big South Pitcher of the Week April 16.
•Morgan tossed a complete game shutout, Longwood's first since Aaron Myers did it against Ohio University in 2014. Morgan struck out 13 batters and allowed just five base runners. 
•Morgan is second in the Big South with a .187 batting average against.
•Longwood is on a home run kick as of late with 13 of its 15 home runs on the season coming in the last 12 games. The Lancers are 7-5 in that stretch, hitting .255 as a team.
Sammy Miller, Justin Mitchell, and Antwaun Tucker each got in on the power party against Radford.
•Miller's home run in the eighth inning of the first game in Sunday's doubleheader - the first of Miller's career - tied the game at three. Miller then tagged a grand slam April 10 against VMI.
Nate Blakeney picked up his first two home runs the week starting April 9.
•Tucker, Blakeney, and Mitchell combined for Longwood's first three-homer game of the season in the series finale against UNC Asheville, a 5-0 win.
•Longwood won via walk-off for the first time in 2018 when Nate Blakeney hit a walk-off single against Niagara on February 24.
•Blakeney did it again with a walk-off RBI reaching on a fielder's choice in the first game of a doubleheader against Radford April 8.
•Longwood has posted seven quality starts on the season with Cody Boydstun posting three in his first season as a starter.
•Farkas and Tyler Morgan each collected quality starts in shutout wins against UNC Asheville.
•Farkas struck out a school record 14 batters in 7.0 scoreless innings on April 13.
•After Farkas' gem, Morgan struck out 13 batters in a complete game shutout for his first career quality start.
•Longwood scored a season-high 15 runs in its 15-12 win against UNC Asheville in game one on April 14. In that game the Lancers set season highs in runs (15), RBI (15), doubles (5), triples (2), and total bases (27).
•The Lancers set the season high with three home runs in game two of the doubleheader.
Sammy Miller and Ryan Shull have each swung a hot bat in April.
•Miller is hitting .393 (11-for-28) with two doubles, his first two career homers, nine RBI and 14 runs scored, plus 11 walks.
•Shull, who hit .314 in April of 2017, is hitting .313 this April. Grant Keller is hitting .350 (7-for-20) this April.
•Junior left-handed starter Steven Farkas sits second in the Big South with 58 strikeouts. The Lancers are third in the Big South with 281 as a team in 2018.
Tyler Morgan picked up the Big South Pitcher of the Week award on April 16, becoming the 10th Lancer to win a weekly award.

Scouting James Madison
•Longwood last met James Madison on their turf in 2017, but the game did not go well as JMU took the meeting 16-0 in seven innings to sweep the home-and-home series.
•JMU is on a four-game winning streak, led in hitting by Josh Jones, who's hitting .328.
•Fox Semones is hitting .302 and leads the team with six home runs and 25 RBI.
•2017 All-CAA Second Team performer and Preseason All-CAA selection •Adam Sisk is third on the team with a .288 average and paced the squad with 14 extra-base hits. Sisk hit .337 in 2017 with 11 home runs and 41 RBI.
•Matt Colon leads the team with 17 appearances and owns a 1.20 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 15.0 innings. Starters Nick Stewart, Kevin Kelly, and Colton Harlow each have sub-4 ERAs.
