By The Numbers
•In just his second career start junior right-hander Cody Boydstun put together a gem, tossing 7.2 innings against Niagara on February 24. Boydstun struck out eight batters with two earned runs allowed, setting career highs in punchouts and innings pitched.
•In the first game of a doubleheader March 10 against Iona Cody Boydstun tossed his first career complete game with 9.0 innings of two-run ball. Boydstun struck out six in his first win as a starter.
• Junior right-handed relief pitcher Eric Harp picked up his first-career Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week award for his dominance at USC Upstate on March 4.
•Harp, a 6-foot-9 relief ace, tossed 4.0 shutout innings with one hit and one walk with 11 strikeouts. In the final game of the series Harp tossed 3.2 perfect innings, striking out nine of 11 batters faced.
•Steven Farkas put together his first quality start of the season with 6.0 scoreless innings March 9 against Iona. Farkas struck out 12 batters with three walks and five hits allowed, but received no decision.
•Michael Catlin, who has gone between the bullpen and starting rotation throughout his career, has made his mark as a starting pitcher in 2018.
•Catlin finished just shy of his first career quality start twice before finally breaking through with 6.0 innings of one-run ball in his second win of the season March 10 against Iona, the second game of a doubleheader.
•Freshman right-hander Tommy Green has taken advantage of the five appearances he's made in 2018. The Virginia Beach, Va., native has struck out 16 batters in 9.1 innings pitched, tossing a season-high 3.0 inning threshold twice and has posted a season-best five strikeouts twice and leads the team with two saves.
•Longwood has posted four quality starts on the season with Cody Boydstun posting two in his first season as a starter.
•All three starting pitchers - Steven Farkas, Boydstun, and Michael Catlin - each picked up quality starts in the weekend series against Iona that began March 9. The three starting pitchers averaged 7.0 innings, one run, and seven strikeouts for the series.
•Two of Longwood's three starting pitchers have made the transition from the bullpen into the weekend rotation.
•Cody Boydstun, who had never made a start in his career leading into 2018, has made a pair of quality starts.
•Michael Catlin spent his first three seasons only making spot starts and was primarily a relief pitcher before transitioning into the starting rotation ahead of the 2018 season.
•Eric Harp picked up the Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week award on March 5, becoming the ninth Lancer to win a weekly award.

Scouting Lafayette
•Longwood and Lafayette last met for the end of a three-game weekend series on March 21, 2009. The Lancers dropped the game 12-6, but won the series after taking the first two games.
•Lafayette enters off a three-game sweep at UNCG over the weekend, losing by a combined 32-12 margin.
•Preseason All-Patriot League selections senior second baseman Steven Cohen and junior designated hitter John Selsor have each gotten off to slow starts as Cohen is hitting .246 and Selsor has not played in 2018.
•Sophomore infielder John Marti has stepped up with a team-high .413 batting average and 26 total bases. He's posted a team-high .509 on-base percentage and is second on the team with six extra-base hits and eight RBI.
•On the mound five relief pitchers have posted sub-4 ERAs, led by a 0.00 ERA in three appearances by Andrew Marra, who has pitched 2.1 innings.
•Tuesday's projected starter for Lafayette, Jon Faraci, is set to make his second start in what will be his third appearance. Faraci owns a 1.93 ERA in 4.2 innings pitched with three strikeouts and a .235 batting average against.
