Full Series Notes (PDF) LEADING OFF• Longwood takes on Coastal Carolina for the first time in the regular season and just the second time in school history. The only prior meeting between the two schools came in the 2013 Big South Championships, a 6-1 Chanticleer victory.
• The Lancers rebounded from a tough weekend with a thrilling 10-9 victory over in-state rival James Madison on Wednesday.
• No. 23 Coastal Carolina will be the first ranked opponent Longwood has faced in 2015. The Lancers last faced a ranked team on March 26, 2014 when the blue and white dropped an 8-1 midweek contest to No. 2 Virginia.
• Longwood continues to strive with two outs as the Lancers have scored 57 of their 136 runs with two down. The blue and white is batting .306 in two-out situations.
BY THE NUMBERS• Longwood enters the weekend at 3-6 in Big South play after dropping 2-of-3 to High Point last weekend.
• The Lancers took the middle game of the set thanks to a spectacular performance from senior
Brandon Vick. The southpaw tossed his first complete game of the season and the fifth of his career, allowing just five hits in the 5-2 victory.
•
Colton Konvicka is once again en fuego on the offensive side. The leadoff man is hitting .364 with 4 2B, 2 3B and 2 HR in his last five games. Konvicka has also broken into the top-10 in steals in Longwood history with 55 swipes to this point of his junior season.
• Shortstop
Michael Osinski has three multi-hit games in the last five played for the Lancers. The rookie is hitting .467 in that stretch with five RBI.
• Senior
Aaron Myers is quickly running down the all-time strikeout record. With 246 punchouts, the ace is 11 K's shy of tying the all-time record.
• After a four game stretch in which the Lancers struggled at the plate, Longwood has bounced back quite nicely over the past week, hitting .287 as a club with 25 runs scored.
