RADFORD, Va. – Radford won two of three singles matches decided in a decisive third set to claim a 6-1 victory over Longwood Sunday afternoon at the Radford University Tennis Complex.

Longwood opened the singles portion of the match by claiming the first set on three of the six courts. After winning the first set at No. 2, 6-2, Alfonso Castellano earned the Lancers' lone win of the day over Nikhil Mannepalli, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (6).

Meanwhile, Steed Johnson was able to take the first set at the No. 3 position, while Sankar took the opening set of his match at the No. 5 position. Unfortunately for Longwood, neither player was able to earn the victory. Sankar fell in a third set against Janken Thoen, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, while Johnson dropped his match in a third set tiebreak against Michiel Meekers, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7).

Atop the singles lineup, Dan Elston fell in the first set to Radford ace Patrick O'Keefe, 6-1, before being forced to retire with an injury in after dropping the first two games of the second frame.

Florian Uffer was defeated at the No. 4 position by Jose Moreno Manzano, 6-0, 7-5, while Rosen Ilchev dropped a hard-fought match against Samuel Taylor at the bottom of the order, 6-3, 6-1.

Radford earned wins on courts one and three to take the doubles point. O'Keefe and Moreno Manzano topped Longwood's tandem of Johnson and Lachlan Manser, 8-4, while the Radford team of Mannepalli and Meekers defeated Sankar and Ilchev, 8-1.

At the two spot, Uffer and Castellano earned a hard-fought 8-5 victory over Thoen and Javier Waase.

Up next, Longwood will step out of conference as it travels to James Madison Wednesday, April 1. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
