• Longwood eyes a second-consecutive Big South series victory as the Lancers play host to High Point.
• The Lancers are also looking to avenge a sweep at the hands of the Panthers last season. High Point came to Farmville and took three hotly-contested games in 2014.
• After four-consecutive where the bats struggled, Longwood is searching for a spark at the plate. The Lancers managed just five hits in a midweek loss at VCU.
•
Connar Bastaich leads the Lancers in conference action, hitting .348 in the opening six games.
• Longwood would love to see a repeat of last weekend on the mound as
Aaron Myers,
Brandon Vick and
Travis Burnette all provided quality starts against CSU.
• Even after the sweep last season, Longwood still leads the all-time series 11-8 over High Point.
BY THE NUMBERS• Longwood enters the weekend at 2-4 in Big South play after taking 2-of-3 from Charleston Southern last weekend.
• The Lancers were the benefactors of three solid outings on the bump last weekend. Longwood's starters combined to toss
22-1/3 innings while allowing just five runs, two earned, on 17 hits.
•
Brandon Delk continues to lead the blue and white at the plate as the senior is hitting .330 on the year with a team-high nine multi-hit games.
• Junior first baseman
Connar Bastaich rides a 12-game hitting streak into the series, the longest such streak by any Lancer
this season. Bastaich is currently swinging the stick at a .309 clip.
• Senior
Aaron Myers will take sole possession of second place on the all-time strikeout list at Longwood with his first punchout Friday night. The senior ace is just 17 K's shy of the top spot on the list.
• Longwood dropped its only midweek game at VCU on Wednesday night. The Lancers struggled at the plate for a fourth-consecutive game in the 8-1 loss.
• Junior
Travis Burnette is looking to build off his career-best performance last Sunday after dealing eight scoreless innings with a personal-best six strikeouts.
