Midweek Notes (PDF) Leading Off• Coming off of its second shutout of the season and winning four of its last five, Longwood travels to The Diamond Wednesday to take on in-state foe VCU.
• Longwood benefitted from great starting pitching over the weekend, receiving three quality starts from the rotation.
• The Lancers will be looking to revive the bats, which struggled over the weekend despite winning 2-of-3.
• Longwood is just 4-10 all-time versus VCU with the last meeting coming on April 17, 2012. The Rams took that one 9-0 in Farmville.
• The Lancers have won all four of their midweek games this season, scoring a combined 38 runs in those contests.
• Longwood last visited The Diamond in 2011, coming home with a 6-1 victory over the Rams.
Week in Review• Longwood won four of its five games last weekend, including taking its first Big South series of the season two games to one over Charleston Southern.
• In midweek contests versus Norfolk State and at North Carolina A&T, the Lancers produced two of their biggest offensive performances of the season scoring a combined 23 runs.
• Center fielder
Colton Konvicka went 9-for-22 with four RBI, a home run, triple and three doubles on the week.
• Over the weekend, it was the pitching staff who led the blue and white as all three starters turned in quality outings against Charleston Southern. The Lancers allowed just three earned runs in the entire series.
• Freshman
Michael Osinski provided the big hit in Sunday's rubber match, a two-out RBI-double to plate
Kyri Washington for the game's only run.
Up Next• Longwood returns to Farmville this weekend to host Big South foe High Point.
• The Panthers are currently 10-11 overall and 2-1 in Big South play after taking the series from Campbell last weekend.
• The Lancers will be looking for revenge after the Panthers came to Buddy Bolding Stadium and swept Longwood last season.
