Longwood Finally Set for Home Opener

Lancers host Norfolk State on Tuesday before heading to North Carolina A&T

FARMVILLE, Va. –
For the first time in 2015, Longwood baseball will step between the lines at Buddy Bolding Stadium as the Lancers host Norfolk State Tuesday at 5 p.m. After 17-straight games away from Farmville to open the season and 4,201 miles of travel, Longwood and first-year head coach Ryan Mau will unveil the new-look squad and numerous improvements to Bolding Stadium.

Following Tuesday's home opener, Longwood will hit the road again for a Wednesday night contest at North Carolina A&T. This will be the first meeting between the Lancers and Aggies since 2012, when Longwood swept a doubleheader.

• Longwood opens its 2015 home slate on Tuesday against Norfolk State.
• This is the third-latest start to Longwood's home schedule in 36 years of baseball, behind only March 18, 1995 and March 19, 1979. The Lancers have traveled 4,201 miles prior to playing at home.
• Longwood defeated the Spartans 9-2 in Norfolk last Tuesday as Kyri Washington went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and two RBI.
• Longwood and NC A&T have met 37 times in the past with the Lancers holding a 28-9 edge on the Aggies.
• This is the first meeting since 2012 with the Aggies. Longwood took both games of that doubleheader in 4-3 fashion.
• Tuesday and Wednesday will mark the first time Longwood has played a pair of midweek games in 2015, thanks to numerous cancellations and rescheduled games due to weather.
