Longwood Falls at Gardner-Webb, 80-53

Lancers travel to Radford Tuesday at 7 p.m.

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb pair of Alexus Hill and Olivia Parker combined for 41 points, as the Runnin' Bulldogs notched an 80-53 win over Longwood Saturday afternoon inside Paul Porter Arena.

"We didn't play well; we didn't coach well" said Longwood head coach Bill Reinson. "Gardner-Webb was better today. We're going to put this behind us and focus on Radford Tuesday."

The combination of Parker and Hill started quickly, as the pair scored 11 of the first 13 points of the game to help Gardner-Webb  build a 13-7 lead. The dynamic duo finished the game with 18 points in the paint, where Gardner-Webb outscored Longwood, 42-8.

Hill's 22 points was a career mark for her, as she led Gardner-Webb (10-14, 6-9 BSC) to its third win in the past four games. Hill finished the day 8-of-12 (.750) from the floor to go along with six rebounds, four assists and one steal.

Parker added 19 points to go along with 12 rebounds to finish the afternoon with her third straight double-double. Jessica Heilig also finished in double figures for the Runnin' Bulldogs recording 11 points to go along with three rebounds and three assists.

Deborah Headen was the leading scorer for Longwood (3-21, 3-11 BSC) with 13 points, while Shannon Mosby and Micaela Ellis finished with nine points. The Lancers played without the services of Kyndal Skersick – who was injured in the first six minutes of Thursday's game at UNC Asheville.

Skersick is Longwood's second leading scorer since Daeisha Brown's season-ending injury, averaging 10.7 points per contest to rank among the top scorers in the conference.

Holding an 11-point lead at half, 40-29, the Runnin' Bulldogs came out of the locker room and opened the second-half on a 13-5 run to put Gardner-Webb in control the rest of the way. The Runnin' Bulldogs put together a display on the offensive end with 15-of-29 (.571) in the second half and held the Lancers to 4-of-33 (.121) from the floor. For the game, Longwood was limited to a season-low 15-of-59 (.254)) from the field.

The game against Gardner-Webb marked the end of a four games in eight days stretch for the Lancers, as the squad will look to regroup before traveling to Radford Tuesday, Feb.
