BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Karolina Chernaya and Natasha Afridi led Campbell University to a sweep in singles, while the duo of Afridi and Tamara Stanic helped the Fighting Camels (8-5, 2-1 Big South) pick-up the doubles point en route to a 7-0 Big South Conference women's tennis victory against visiting Longwood University. The Lancers (2-4, 1-2 Big South) will take to the road again to play a non-conference match at UNC Greensboro of the Southern Conference on Sunday, March 16 at 12 p.m. in Greensboro, North Carolina.
"We knew they would be good, so our plan before the match was to focus on the things we could control," said first-year Longwood head coach
Casey Wharton. "So instead of thinking about rankings, or points won or lost, instead we tried focusing on the execution of our shots, and our strategies. And although the outcome was not in our favor, I did see a lot of great execution … and I hope to continue building on that focus, into practice this week, so we can do it even better in our next match."
