FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood University women's basketball team will play a pair of Big South Conference home games in Willett Hall this week beginning on Thursday, February 6 against Charleston Southern University. Tipoff for that contest is slated for 7 p.m. A live video broadcast will be available via the Big South Network.
Looking at Longwood
Longwood is currently 6-16 overall this season, including 3-10 in Big South Conference action, after dropping a pair of league games on the road last week. Scouting Charleston Southern
The Lady Bucs are 8-14 so far in 2013-14 and 4-9 in Big South play. Charleston Southern is in the midst of a four-game skid, including a pair of losses last week. The team fell, 59-48, against visiting Winthrop on Jan. 30 before facing a 60-57 setback against Radford on Feb. 1. CSU, under the direction of second-year head coach Fred Applin, is led by Erin Bratcher with 13.1 points per game. DJ Fowler adds 11.0 points per game, while Anicia Dotson totals 10.2. Dotson paces the team on the glass with 6.7 rebounds per game, as well. As a whole, the Lady Bucs are shooting 35.4% (468-1321) from the field, including 29.6% (169-571) from three-point territory, and 64.5% (263-408) from the foul line.
Series History
Thursday's contest will mark the seventh meeting ever between Longwood and Charleston Southern in the sport of women's basketball. The Lancers hold a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series, including a 78-71, come-from-behind victory earlier this season on January 4 in Charleston, S.C.
