JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Dylan Tritsch and Clinton Freeman each had three hits and two RBI in game one, and Jimmy Nesselt gained the pitching win, while Jeremy Taylor had four hits and an RBI in game two with the mound win going to Josh Jacques, as East Tennessee State University of the Atlantic Sun Conference swept a doubleheader past Longwood University by scores of 7-3 and 5-4 (12 innings) on Monday in Johnson City, Tennessee.  Senior captain Matt Dickason/Chesapeake had three hits, and sophomore Kyri Washington/Prospect had two hits and two RBI in the first game for the Lancers (1-2), the pitching loss going to sophomore Blake Ream/Yorktown, while sophomore Colton Konvicka/Richmond had two hits and two RBI in the second game, the mound loss going to senior Ryan Schubert/Springfield against the Buccaneers (2-1).  Longwood will play on the road at in-state opponent James Madison University of the Colonial Athletic Association on Wednesday, February 19 at 4 p.m. in Harrisonburg (re-scheduled from Tuesday, Feb. 18).

In the nightcap, Longwood scored two runs in the third inning when freshman Alex Lewis/Burke (1-3, RBI) singled to lead off and moved to second on a fielding error that allowed classmate Mac McCafferty/Stevens, Pennsylvania (0-5) to reach base.  Both runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt by freshman Brandon Harvell/Yorktown (1-4), before Konvicka (2-5, 2 RBI) placed a one-out, two-run triple down the right field line that scored both runners.  ETSU tied it at 2-2 with a pair of runs in the fifth inning, getting back-to-back doubles from Chris Cook (1-5) and Trey York (1-4, RBI) to open the at bat, the latter scoring Cook, while York scored on a one-out, RBI single from Taylor (4-6, RBI).

The Lancers promptly responded with the go ahead runs in the sixth inning, getting a triple from Dickason (1-4) to lead off the inning ahead of an RBI double by Washington (2-5, RBI), who would score on a fielder's choice by Lewis that followed an infield single by senior Scott Burkett/Williamsburg (2-5) that had moved Washington to third, making it 4-2.  The Buccaneers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, however, tying it at 4-4 after Taylor and Tritsch (1-5) opened with singles and advanced a base each on a wild pitch.  Taylor scored on an RBI sacrifice fly from Freeman (0-4, RBI), and Tritsch crossed the plate courtesy of a fielding error by the visitors.

ETSU won it in the bottom of the 12th inning as Freeman was hit by a pitch to lead off and later scored unearned on a two-out fielding error.

Sophomore Allen Ellis/Mechanicsville started for Longwood and pitched the first 4.1 innings, scattering four hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts and one walk.  Schubert (0-1) tossed the final 2.2, yielding one hit and the unearned run with two strikeouts and three walks.

In the opener, ETSU scored two runs each in the seventh and eighth innings to break a 3-3 tie toward the four-run victory.  The Bucs led 2-0 after three innings with single runs in both the first and third innings.  In the first, Tritsch (3-5, 2 RBI) reached on a one-out single and scored on an RBI double from Freeman (3-3, 2 RBI), while in the third, York (2-3) doubled with one out and crossed the plate on an RBI single by Tritsch.

Longwood tied it at 2-2 with two runs in the fourth inning when Washington (2-3, 2 RBI) hit a two-run home run to left center field that scored Dickason (3-4), who had led off with a single.  It was the first hit, and homer, of the season for Washington, who led the team with six home runs a year ago.  ETSU took a 3-2 lead with a run in the fifth inning, getting a triple from York, who later scored on an RBI single from Freeman.  The Lancers answered in the sixth inning with a run to tie it at 3-3, getting a triple from Dickason, who scored on an RBI single by Burkett (1-4, RBI), following a walk to Washington.

ETSU took control in the seventh when Cook (1-4) opened with a single and scored on a two-out, RBI single by Tritsch, who stole second and later scored on an RBI single from Kevin Phillips (1-4, RBI).  The Bucs added two insurance runs in the eighth, both unearned, on a two-run double by Taylor (1-5, 2 RBI) after a throwing error had kept the at bat alive.
