The Opening Tip
 • Longwood plays its second home game of the season, as the Lancers welcome Big South foe UNC Asheville to Willett Hall for Sunday's game.
• The contest against Asheville marks the second Big South game of the season for the Lancers, as the squad opened con­ference play with an 81-60 loss at High Point on Dec. 2.
• The Lancers will play their second home game of the season, as eight of Long­wood's first 10 games are on the road. The Lancers played their first home game against UNCG on Monday, Nov. 24, and haven't played on their home court since.
• The Lancers are averaging 15.9 points per game from three-point range this season, which ranks second in the con­ference.

Last Time Out
• Longwood has had more than a week since its most recent game, where Vir­ginia Tech guard Rachel Camp logged her second career double-double, to lead the Hokies past the visiting Lancers, 74-42.
• The Hokies utilized a 20-3 run over the opening 8:21 of the contest by hitting seven of their first 10 shots of the game.
• The Hokie defense held the Lancers to 6-of-25 (.240) in the first half and 1-of-7 from beyond the arc, while holding Long­wood to its lowest scoring half of the sea­son with 14 points.
• Junior Kyndal Skersick led the Lancers in the scoring column with nine points, while Khalilah Ali added six points on 3-of-7 (.429) from the floor. Treasure Av­ery led the Lancers in the rebounding de­partment with five boards.

By The Numbers
• Longwood has been successful shoot­ing the three this season, as the Lanc­ers have made at least four three-point field goals in each game they've played. Longwood hit a season-high eight treys in the contest at Richmond.
• The Lancers will play a total of five schools from a power five conference this season — Wake Forest, Florida, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Clemson. The five games against the power five is the most of any team in the Big South this season.
• Longwood has three players on its roster averaging at least one three-point field goal per contest this sea­son. Raven Williams leads the Lancers and ranks eighth in the Big South with 10 treys this season and Kyndal Sker­sick is 12th in the league with seven three-pointers in seven games games. In addition, freshman Micaela Ellis has shown the ability to shoot from long range, as she is also averaging 1.0 three's per game.
• This season marks the 99th season for Longwood women's basketball, as the Lancers have a record of 566-542 since 1970. The Lancers officially made the jump to Division I for the 2007-08 season and are 61-122 in those seven seasons. Prior to making the jump to Division I, Longwood made four NCAA Division II Tournaments (1995, '96, '97, '03).
• Longwood named three players team captains — senior Rianna Frazer, junior Deborah Headen and junior Raven Wil­liams.

Scouting UNC Asheville
• UNC Asheville comes into Sunday's contest with a 2-6 overall mark this season. The Bulldogs are currently on a two-game losing streak.
• The Bulldogs last played on Wednes­day evening and suffered an 81-71 set­back at Furman. The Bulldogs had three players in double figures led by Tianna Knuckles and Tiffany Wilson with 16 points each. Brittany Gwyn also finished the game in double figures with 10 points.
• Asheville doesn't have anyone on its roster averaging double figure scor­ing this season. The Bulldogs are led in the scoring column by Shonese Jones (9.8 PPG), while Tianna Knuckles is av­eraging 9.3 points per contest. UNC Asheville is led in the rebounding de­partment by Jeannie Buckner, who av­erages 6.6 rebounds per contest.
• In the Big South, Asheville is 1-0 this season, defeating Charleston South­ern earlier this month. The Bulldogs rank third in the league in three-point field-goal defense, holding opponents to a .287 (29-of-101) clip.
