WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Longwood University men's tennis team captured a 7-0 victory at Howard University (1-7) on Sunday, April 7 in Washington, D.C. The Lancers (5-11) swept all six singles matches, as well as the three doubles matches to secure the shutout victory. Longwood returns to action on Tuesday, April 9 when the squad hosts in-state opponent the University of Richmond beginning at 3 p.m.

Giorgi Khmiadashvili/Tbilisi, Georgia defeated the Bison's Spencer Mitchell 6-3, 6-2 to open singles play. Sophomore
Daniel Elston/St. Austell, Cornwall, England followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Tim Stanton-Davis in the #2 position, while junior
Edward Becker/Sydney, Australia beat Bogdan Dzakovic 7-6, 6-3 at #3. Sophomore
Steed Johnson/Ahoskie, N.C. won in the #4 position by a score of 6-1, 6-0, while freshmen
Justin Higgs/Nassau, Bahamas and
James Fudge/Kaarst, Germany rounded out the singles decisions with victories in the #5 and #6 spots, respectively.
The Lancers also earned the doubles point thanks to three straight wins. Elston and Becker teamed up to defeat Mitchell and Stanton-Davis, 8-3, in the top doubles position. Khmiadashvili and sophomore
