RADFORD, Va. – The Longwood University men's tennis team fell, 6-1, against Big South Conference opponent Radford University on Friday afternoon in Radford to close out the squad's first-ever Big South regular-season schedule. Sophomore Steed Johnson/Ahoskie, N.C. picked up the Lancers' only point of the match in the #5 singles position. Sophomore Daniel Elson/St. Austell, Cornwall, England and junior Edward Becker/Sydney, Australia combined for a victory in the top doubles spot, as well. Longwood will return to action on Saturday, April 13 when it wraps up its 2012-13 campaign against George Washington University in a neutral-site contest hosted by Radford beginning at 10 a.m.

Johnson defeated his opponent, Javier Waase, 6-1, 7-6 to earn the point for the Lancers at #5. Also in singles action, senior Giorgi Khmiadashvili/Tbilisi, Georgia fell 6-3, 6-0 to in the #1 position, while Elston was defeated at #2 (6-4, 7-5) and Becker lost at #3 (6-3, 6-4). Sophomore Harry Kelleher/Sydney, Australia (6-0, 6-0) and freshman James Fudge/Kaarst, Germany rounded out the singles decisions for Longwood at #4 and #6, respectively.

In doubles play, the duo of Elston and Becker defeated Nicholas Sayer and Thomas Dehaen, 9-8, in the #1 position, but Khmiadashvili and Kelleher lost 8-6 at #2, and Johnson and Fudge fell 8-1 at #3.
