WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Willie Shaw had three RBI, including a two-run double for the go-ahead runs in the seventh inning, and Bobby Klein also added an RBI, to lead the College of William and Mary of the Colonial Athletic Association to a 5-2 non-conference baseball victory past Longwood University on Wednesday night in Williamsburg. William and Mary got on the board first with a run in the second inning to lead 1-0 after Ryan Hissey (1-2) singled, moved to second on ground ball to shortstop, advanced to third via a passed ball and scored unearned on a sacrifice fly by Klein (0-1, RBI). The Tribe added another run in the third to lead 2-0 when Ryan Brown (1-3) doubled with one out, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly from Shaw (1-4, 3 RBI).
Longwood scored two runs in the fifth to make it 2-2 after freshman
Blake Ream/Yorktown (0-2) drew a two-out walk and scored on an RBI double by Konvicka (2-5, RBI), the Lancers' first hit of the game, followed by another RBI double from freshman
C.J. Roth/Yorktown (1-4, RBI) to plate Konvicka.
William and Mary broke the tie with two go-ahead runs in the seventh to lead 4-2 as Ryan Lindemuth (1-5) reached on a fielding error in left field that allowed him three bases. Brown walked with one out before Shaw plated both runners with a two-run double. The Tribe added an insurance run in the eighth after Lindemuth singled with one out, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a run-scoring single from Jackson Shaver (2-5, RBI).
Longwood tried to rally in the top of the ninth, loading the bases with one out, but could not score the runners. Senior
Justin Lacy/Glen Allen (0-4) reached on a fielding error before walks to both junior
Matt Dickason/Chesapeake (0-0) and Ream loaded the bases. Unfortunately, Konvicka and Roth each struck out to end the game.

Joe Manion/Midlothian started for Longwood and pitched the first 5.0 innings, scattering four hits and two runs, one earned, with one walk and four strikeouts. Burnette (2-2) took the loss in relief for the Lancers, tossing 1.2 innings and allowing two hits and two runs, one earned, with four walks and two strikeouts.
Wainman (2-2) started for William and Mary and pitched the first 7.0 innings, scattering four hits and two runs, both earned, with three walks and nine strikeouts. Mitchell Aker (5) gained a save with the final scoreless inning on the mound with two walks and three strikeouts.
