Nicole Parker|Richmond earned the lone win for the Lancers (0-2) at No. 6 singles, defeating Georgina Pons Cano of the Spiders (1-3) in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Longwood will travel to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday, February 9 to play matches against host Navy of the Patriot League and Coppin State University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, beginning at 9 a.m.

In addition to the singles win at No. 6 by Parker, Pinyol fell at No. 1 to Kandinata, 6-0, 6-0. Allgurin fell at No. 2 to Abadias, 6-2, 7-6 (3). Shulman fell at No. 3 to Salas, 5-7, 6-4, 11-9. Moomau fell at No. 4 to Gitman, 6-1, 6-2. Hill fell at No. 5 to Smyth, 6-2, 2-1 retired.
“Today we played a top Atlantic 10 Conference team and really made them earn it out there,” said fifth-year head coach
Jakob Gustafsson. “I am happy with how we competed out there. I was especially happy to see our two crowd favorites, Allie and Nicole, step up and play two great matches. We are now looking forward to another tough challenge up at Navy.”
