BOX SCORE GAME ONE | BOX SCORE GAME TWO

FARMVILLE, Va. – Longwood University swept a baseball doubleheader past visiting North Carolina A&T State University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon at Charles Buddy Bolding Stadium in Farmville.  The Lancers (21-17) won both games in walk-off fashion by identical scores of 4-3, taking the opener in 11 innings before scoring two runs in the final seventh inning of the nightcap.  Junior Justin Lacy|Glen Allen (J.R. Tucker) provided the clutch one-out, game-winning RBI single in the first game that also featured a two-run home run by sophomore Scott Burkett|Williamsburg (Jamestown), while freshman Brandon Delk|Newport News (Warwick) had a game-tying RBI double and classmate Conner Hall|Mechanicsville (Atlee) the game-winning sacrifice fly in the nightcap against the Aggies (13-26).  It's the 31st overall 20-win campaign in the program's 35-year history.   A scheduled doubleheader between Longwood and North Carolina A&T on Sunday, April 22, in Greensboro has been canceled.  Longwood will play again on Tuesday, April 24, hosting future Big South Conference rival and in-state school VMI at Bolding Stadium in Farmville at 6 p.m.

In game one, Longwood answered a two-run fifth for NCAT with a one-out, two-run home run to left field by Burkett (2-4, 2 RBI).  It was the fifth homer this season for the second-year catcher.  The Lancers took a 3-2 lead in the seventh when Burkett drew a one-out walk and scored on an RBI double by Lacy (2-5, 2 RBI), but the Aggies tied it at 3-3 with a run in the eighth.  Longwood stranded runners in both the ninth and 10th innings before winning it in the 11th after Burkett doubled with one out, and scored when Lacy followed with the walk-off RBI single down the right field line.  Senior captain Robby Newman|Virginia Beach (Salem) (2-4), sophomore captain Matt Dickason|Chesapeake (Indian River) (2-5), and Delk (2-4) each collected two hits in addition to Lacy and Burkett.

Sophomore Ryan Schubert|Springfield (Annandale) (4-1) gained the pitching win for Longwood with the final 1.0 inning, yielding no hits with one walk and one strikeout.  Senior captain Matt Gwaltney|Chesterfield (Matoaca) started for the Lancers and tossed the first 6.0 solid innings, scattering seven hits and two earned runs with one walk and three strikeouts.  Freshman Tyler Wislocki|Annandale (W.T. Woodson) added a scoreless inning, yielding no hits with no walks and one strikeout, while classmate Aaron Myers|Newport News (Denbigh) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing one hit and one earned run with one walk and three strikeouts.

NCAT was led by Brandon Wilkerson (1-4, 2 RBI) and Dairio Little (2-3), while Joe Mackey (0-4) took the mound loss.

In game two, Longwood scored a run in the first inning as Dickason (2-4) singled, stole second, and scored with one out on an RBI single by Lacy (1-4, RBI).  NCAT tied it at 1-1 with a run in the fifth, but the Lancers responded with a run in the fifth as well after Newman (0-2) drew a two-out walk, stole second, and scored on a run-scoring single from Delk (2-3, 2 RBI).  The Aggies plated two more runs in the seventh to lead 3-2 before Longwood answered once-again for its win.  Newman walked to lead-off, moved to second on a wild pitch, and crossed the plate on a double by Delk.  Another wild pitch moved Delk to third, and after a strikeout, two walks (one intentional) loaded the bases for Hall (0-2, RBI) who hit his game-ending fly to right field scoring Delk.  Sophomore Alex Owens|Purcellville (Loudoun Valley) (2-3) and freshman Travis Biddix|Richmond (Mills E. Godwin) (2-2) each added two hits in addition to Dickason and Delk.

Junior Kyler Morgan|Lancaster, Pa. (Lampeter-Strasburg) (5-4) started and gained the pitching win for Longwood with the complete-game 7.0 innings, scattering nine hits and two earned runs with three walks and two strikeouts.

NCAT was led by Marquis Riley (3-3, 2 RBI) and Mark Nales (2-3, RBI), while Dylan Hipp (0-1) took the mound loss.
