Longwood Falls On Road At #12 Louisville 1-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Longwood University dropped a 1-0 softball decision on the road Sunday at the University of Louisville from the BIG EAST Conference.  The Lancers (26-21) were no-hit for the second-straight day by Tori Collins of the nationally-ranked #12 Cardinals (38-2), while local freshman Libby Morris|Dillwyn (Buckingham County) took the hard-luck pitching loss despite allowing just five hits.  Longwood will play again on Wednesday, April 18, on the road at East Carolina University of Conference USA for a doubleheader in Greenville, North Carolina at 5 p.m.

Louisville scored the game's only run in the fifth inning on a two-out RBI single by Whitney Arion (2-3, RBI) that scored Jordan Trimble (1-3, RBI) who had reached on a lead-off double.  Collins (18-1) handled Longwood for the second time in two days as she tossed 7.0 scoreless innings, yielding no hits with four walks and six strikeouts.

Longwood seniors Ashley Kramer|Ashburn (Broad Run) (0-1) and Brittney Latka|Purcellville (Loudoun Valley) (0-0) each drew two walks against the standout pitcher for the Cardinals.

Morris (10-11) took the tough-luck pitching loss in the circle for the Lancers with 6.0 innings, scattering five hits and one earned run, with three walks and one strikeout.
