RALEIGH, N.C. - The Longwood University women's basketball team fell 74-45 at North Carolina State University of the Atlantic Coast Conference on Thursday night in Raleigh, North Carolina. Junior Erin Neal|Durham, N.C. (Hillside) paced the Lancers with a game-high 15 points, while classmate Chelsea Coward|Mechanicsville (Hanover) added 10 points. The Wolfpack (15-10) was led by Erica Donovan with 14 points. Longwood (5-21) returns to action on Monday, February 13, when it hosts the University of Richmond of the Atlantic 10 Conference at 7 p.m. in Willett Hall in Farmville for the annual “Pack The House” game.

The Lancers trailed 10-6 with 12:02 in the first half, but NC State out-scored the Lancers 25-8 the rest of the way to lead 35-14 at halftime. Neal scored seven points in the first 20 minutes and added a team-high three rebounds.  In the second half, the Lancers shot 50% (12-24) from the floor. Junior Crystal Smith|Richmond (Meadowbrook) scored six points in the second period. The second half was closer, as the hosts out-scored Longwood 39-31.

Neal scored 15 points (6-11 FG, 1-2 3FG, 2-4 FT) and added four rebounds and two assists, while Coward scored 10 points (3-8 FG, 1-3 3FG, 3-4 FT) to pace the Lancers. Crystal Smith scored eight points with a game-high five assists. Junior Mieke Elkington|Hamilton, New Zealand (Cochise College) made a game-high four steals and senior Morgan Smith|Williamsport, Md. (Williamsport) grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Longwood shot 36% (18-50) from the floor, including 23.1% (3-13) from behind the arc, and 60% (6-10) from the foul line. The Lancers dished out 11 assists, made 10 steals and scored 17 points off of 20 NC State turnovers.

Donovan paced the Wolfpack with 14 points (6-8 FG, 1-2 3FG, 1-2 FT) and seven rebounds, while Bonae Holston scored 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-3 FT) and Kody Burke added 10 points (4-5 FG, 2-4 FT). NC State shot 46.9% (30-64) from the floor, including 35.3% (6-17) from behind the arc, and 57.1% (8-14) from the foul line. The Wolfpack dished out 16 assists and scored 19 fast-break points.

NC State leads the all-time series 2-0.
