Longwood jumped out to a quick lead with two unassisted goals from sophomore
Lauren Prasnicki|Lexington (Rockbridge) at 26:51 and senior
Jessica Rudloff|West Chester, Pa. (West Chester) at 25:06, respectively. Louisville responded with eight-straight goals, the first coming at 22:49 and the last at 10:03. Three of the eight came from Nikki Boltja who finished with a game-high seven goals. Brentlinger added two more goals, the first assisted by redshirt-freshman
Alexa Anderson|Richmond (St. Catherines), to come within 8-4 at 9:00 remaining; but the Cardinals scored another two at 3:16 and 2:15 to pull ahead 10-4. Brentlinger scored her third goal to close out the half at 1:10, making the score 10-5 heading into halftime.
Just 15-seconds into the second period, Louisville extended its lead to 11-5 off Boltja's fourth goal and the Cardinals proceeded to score another three, two from Hillary Bushway and one more from Boltja, before Longwood got on the scoreboard again. Freshman
Sara Jacobson|Gainesville (Battlefield) finished for LU at 25:46 to end the four-goal run by UofL, but the Cardinals answered with two more, leaving the score 16-6 with 23:31 to go. Freshman

Katie Carbiener|Olympia, Fla. (Olympia) made a free position goal at 14:22 to end the scoring for the Lancers in the game. Three more Louisville goals would come at 9:46, 3:20 and :10 for a final tally of 19-8.

Kathleen Battle|Nellysford (St. Anne's Belfield) grabbed a team-high six ground balls. The Lancers were a bit sloppy on the turf, being forced into 10 turnovers and conceding 16 on their own. Louisville won the battle in shots (41-20), ground balls (30-20) and draw controls (16-13). Danielle Pawliw played 47:49 in goal for UofL, making two saves in the win.
“We knew going into it today that it was going to be a tough game,” said interim head coach Wendy Stone. “We came out strong and made some good plays early on but could not find a way to sustain that pressure for the whole game. We are a young team that continues to make progress on the field and will look to improve one again when we take on William and Mary on Wednesday.”
