FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood Universtity women's tennis team split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon in Annapolis, Maryland, falling first to Navy 4-3 but sweeping Coppin St. 6-0. Freshman Malin Allgurin|Värnamo, Sweden (Finnvedens Gymnasium) and sophomore Sarah Moomau|Winchester (John Handley) were the two Lancers to win in singles against Navy. The Lancers (1-2) will play again Wednesday, February 15 at Campbell in Buies Creek, North Carolina beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Allgurin beat Emani Decquir 6-2, 6-1 at #2 singles, and Moomau won 7-5, 3-6, 10-3 over Gabby Winter at #5. Pairing with junior Allison Shulman|Richmond (Deep Run) in the #1 doubles slot against Decquir and Stefanie Ton of Navy, the duo won 8-3, while Moomau and junior partner Marta Pinyol|Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) won at #2 doubles 9-7 over Erin Snook and Noelle Kaufmann. Ton beat Shulman at #3 singles 6-0, 6-3, and Darien Sears topped Pinyol 6-1, 6-1 at #1 singles. Sophomore Nicole Parker|Richmond (Mills Godwin) dropped her #6 singles match to Kaufmann 6-3, 7-5, and junior Hannah Hill|Portsmouth (Western Branch) fell 6-0, 6-1 at #4 singles, playing Snook. Hill and Parker also fell as a pair in #3 doubles play to Natalie Houle and Caitlin Olsen.

Against Coppin State, Pinyol won at #1 6-1, 6-2 over Katherine Chisholm. Shulman defeated Lauretta Mukam 6-0, 6-0 at #2, and Hill topped Sharise Coppin by the same score at #3. In #4 and #5 play, repectively, Parker shutout Jennifer Mitchell, while Bethany Law|Ona, W.Va. (Cabell Midland) did the same to Courtney Clark.
