Longwood Drops Close 4-3 Decision To George Washington

FARMVILLE, Va. –
The Longwood University men's tennis team fell in a tough match against visiting George Washington 4-3 Friday afternoon on Lancer Courts in Farmville. Junior Nobu Tanaka|Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) and freshman Crescente Lesser|Santiago, Chile (La Reina) won both as a doubles pair 8-7 (5) in the No. 3 slot as well as in singles at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, 6-2, 6-2 and 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. The Lancers (4-5) remain in Farmville to face James Madison Saturday, March 26 at 3 p.m.

Also winning in singles was sophomore Marc Ferrigno|Hvidovre, Denmark (Brondby Gymnasium) at No. 2 by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. He paired with freshman Jimmy Davis|Manassas (Stonewall Jackson) in No. 1 doubles, falling 8-5. Senior Milo Barajas-Alexander|Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) and freshman Edward Becker|Sydney, Australia (Manly Selective Campus) also lost their doubles match 8-3 in the No. 2 position.

In the remaining singles matches, Davis lost 1-6, 3-6 at No. 4, while Barajas-Alexander and Becker fell 6-2, 0-6, 4-6 and 3-6, 4-6, respectively at No. 5 and 6.
