Brittanni Billups|Goldsboro, N.C. (Eastern Wayne) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with team-highs of 15 points and 14 rebounds while sophomore
Crystal Smith|Richmond (Meadowbrook) added 14 points and tied her career-high with nine assists to lead the Lancers (6-16) in a game that featured 16 lead changes. Lindsey Montgomery also recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Bulldogs (10-12). Longwood completed the season sweep of UNCA after topping the Bulldogs 76-66 on the road on January 24. The game was designated the “Pink Zone” game with a portion of the proceeds going to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation. The Lancers return to action on Thursday, February 10, when they travel to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech of the Atlantic Coast Conference at 7 p.m..

UNCA evened the score at 14-14 with 11:01 remaining and eventually pulled ahead to its largest lead of the game at 24-19 with 7:30 remaining in the first half. Chelsea Coward|Mechanicsville (Hanover) made a three-pointer to start the run and finished the scoring with a layup. The score was tied 32-32 at halftime.
The Lancers built an eight point lead at 44-36 with 16:04 remaining in the game after a free throw by Coward. The lead swelled to nine at 53-44 after a three-pointer by Coward off a pass from Smith. UNCA led 57-56 with 8:11 remaining after a pair of free throws by Montgomery, but Smith answered with a three-pointer to put the Lancers ahead 59-57. Billups added a layup to give Longwood the four point lead but a Montgomery jumper and Grace Blaylock three-pointer put the visitors ahead 62-61. UNCA led 69-66 with 3:26 remaining but Longwood started to cut in to the lead. Junior

Krystal Garrison|Fredericksburg (Courtland) made a breakaway layup to put Longwood ahead 70-69 with 2:28 remaining. Kendall Shepard made a layup to put UNCA ahead by one, but back-to-back jumpers by Smith and Zieverink but Longwood ahead for good at 74-71 with 1:22 remaining. Smith went 3-for-4 from the foul line over the final 0:32 to preserve the 77-73 victory.
Longwood shot 45.6% (26-57) from the floor, including 28.6% (6-21) from behind the arc, and 82.6% (19-23) from the foul line. Billups paced the Lancers with 15 points (7-12 FG) and 14 rebounds while Smith added 14 points (3-8 FG, 7-8 FT), nine assists and five rebounds. Coward added 11 points (4-11 FG) while Jovanovic (5-7 FG) and Garrison (3-6 FG) scored 10 points each. The Lancers outrebounded the Bulldogs 43-34. Longwood turned 15 UNCA turnovers in to 18 points.
UNC Asheville shot 41.3% (26-63) from the floor, including 36.4% (8-22) from behind the arc, and 54.2% (13-24) from the foul line. Montgomery paced the Bulldogs with 24 points (10-19 FG) while Blaylock added 18 points (6-10 3FG) and Shepard scored 15 points (5-11 FG) with five assists. UNCA turned 20 Longwood turnovers in to 21 points.
Longwood has won the last three meetings between the two teams and leads the series 3-1.
