WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Longwood University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at George Washington University on Sunday in Washington, D.C.. The Lancers (8-9) won one doubles match but lost the point and then won one singles match, with senior
David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) victorious at #5. Longwood returns to action on Thursday, April 15, when they host the Independent Tournament in Farmville.
In singles competition, Cardoso won at #5 (7-6, 6-2). Sophomore
Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) lost at #1 (2-6, 2-6), freshman
Marc Ferrigno/Hvidovre, Denmark (Brondby Gymnasium) fell at #2 (3-6, 4-6), senior
Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) lost at #3 (5-7, 3-6), freshman
Bruno Orlandini/Araraquara, Brazil (E.E.B.A Araraquara) fell at #4 (3-6, 0-6) and freshman
Adham Halabi/Beamsville, Canada (Niagara Academy) lost at #6 (6-8).
In doubles action, Tanaka and Cardoso won at #3 (7-2, retired). Ferrigno and junior #
Milo Barajas-Alexander#/Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) lost at #1 (4-8) and Heird and Halabi fell at #2 (6-8).
