WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Longwood University women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers (10-8) won the doubles point and picked up singles wins by freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) at #3 and senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) at #4. Longwood is off until next Saturday when they face Seattle University in the Independent Tournament in Farmville.

Pinyol won at #3 (6-3, 6-2) and Davis won at #4 (3-6, 6-3, 10-5). Junior Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) lost at #1 (1-6, 0-6), senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) fell at #2 (1-6, 3-6), freshman Allison Shulman/Richmond (Deep Run) lost at #5 (4-6, 1-6) and freshman Hannah Hill/Portsmouth (Western Branch) fell at #6 (1-6, 1-6).

The Lancers swept the doubles matches as Pinyol and Jakab won at #1 (8-6), Davis and Shulman were victorious at #2 (8-4) and Hill and Simon won at #3 (8-7(5)).
