WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Longwood University men's tennis team defeated Howard University 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C.. The Lancers (8-8) swept the doubles point and won five of the singles matches. Longwood returns to action on Sunday, April 11, when it faces George Washington University at 10 a.m. in Washington, D.C..

In singles action, sophomore Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) won at #1 (6-2, 6-3), freshman Marc Ferrigno/Hvidovre, Denmark (Brondby Gymnasium) was victorious at #2 (6-2, 6-1), senior Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) won at #4 (6-3, 7-5), senior David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) was victorious at #5 (6-2, 6-2) and freshman Adham Halabi/Beamsville, Canada (Niagara Academy) won at #6 (6-0, 6-1). Freshman Bruno Orlandini/Araraquara, Brazil (E.E.B.A Araraquara) fell at #3 (2-6, 3-6).

In doubles competition, junior Milo Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) and Ferrigno won at #1 (8-2), Heird and Halabi were victorious at #2 (8-4) and Tanaka and Cardoso won at #3 (8-3).
