ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Longwood University women's tennis team fell at UNC Asheville 5-2 on Sunday afternoon in Asheville, North Carolina. The Lancers (4-4) dropped the doubles point but picked up a pair of wins in the singles matches. Longwood returns to action on Monday, March 8, when they face Western Carolina University at 2 p.m. in Cullowhee, N.C.. The match will wrap up a four-day road swing through western North Carolina.

In singles competition, senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) was victorious at #4 (6-3, 7-6) and Allison Shulman/Richmond (Deep Run) won at #5 (5-7, 6-3, 10-6). Junior Zsofia Jakab/Minusio, Switzerland (Lices Cantonale Locarns) fell at #1 (2-6, 4-6), senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) lost at #2 (2-6, 2-6), freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) fell at #3 (6-7, 0-6) and freshman Hannah Hill/Portsmouth (Western Branch) lost at #6 (0-6, 3-6).

In doubles action, Jakab and Pinyol fell at #1 (4-8), Davis and Shulman lost at #2 (5-8) and Hill and Simon fell at #3 (6-8).
