FARMVILLE, Va. - The Longwood University men's tennis team swept Howard University 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in Farmville. Seniors
Austin Brawley/Virginia Beach (Frank W. Cox),
Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla 'C') and
Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) all earned wins on Senior Day. The Lancers improved to 11-8 while Howard fell to 6-13. Longwood finished the season with 11 wins, the most since the 2003 campaign.
In singles action, Lindsley won at #1 (6-3, 6-1), Garcia de Andoain won at #2 (6-4, 6-1), freshman
Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College) won at #3 (6-7 (8), 6-1, 10-6), junior
Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) won at #4 (6-0, 6-1) and Brawley won at #5 (7-5, 6-2). Junior
David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) won by default at #6.
The Lancers swept all three doubles' flights. Heird and Lindsley won at #1 (8-2), Garcia de Andoain and Cardoso won at #2 (8-5) and Tanaka and sophomore
Milo Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O'Connell) won by default at #3.
