Women's Soccer Falls To Towson 5-0

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Longwood University dropped a 5-0 women’s soccer decision to Towson University Friday afternoon during the Navy Soccer Invitational in Annapolis, Maryland. The Lancers are now 1-2, while the Tigers improved to 3-0. Longwood will play its second match of the tournament on Sunday, September 9, against Rider University at Navy’s Glenn Warner Soccer Facility beginning at 12 p.m..

Against Towson, Longwood fell behind 2-0 during the opening 20 minutes and trailed 3-0 at the intermission. The Tigers added two more unanswered goals in the second half for the five-goal victory. Towson spread its scoring among five different players with goals from Kaitlyn Zamroz (16:17), Brittany Hadaway (18:08), Katie Greenwood (44:38), Erica Marshall (62:25), and Brittany McKew (84:33).

Towson took a 15-4 advantage in shots, and had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. Longwood senior goalkeeper Anne Whitmore/Charlottesville (Western Albemarle) (45:00, 3 ga) played the first half in front of the net with three saves, while redshirt-freshman keeper Marcia Biddle/Woodbridge (Gar-Field) (45:00, 2 ga) played the second half for the Lancers with two saves. It was Biddle’s first collegiate action. Brandi Daniels (90:00) played the duration for the Tigers with three saves and the shutout.
