Men's Tennis Drops 4-3 To James Madison

David Cardoso Recorded Wins In Both Singles And Doubles This Afternoon

FARMVILLE, Va.-- Longwood men’s tennis dropped a tough 4-3 match to in-state rival James Madison Saturday afternoon at Lancer Courts in Farmville.  Carlos Garcia de Andoain/Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla ‘C’) and David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) recorded wins in both singles and doubles in the loss.  Longwood will return to action on Thursday, March 29, when they host Coastal Carolina for a 2 p.m. match.
    
In singles action Garcia de Andoain battled JMU’s Jesse Tarr in three sets, winning the first 6-4 falling in the second 6-7 but took the decisive third 6-3.  Cardoso defeated the Dukes’ John Snead in two straight sets 6-1, 6-2 at the number two spot while Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) handed JMU’s Brian Clay 7-6 and 6-2 losses at the number four spot.  Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge), Mani Barajas-Alexander/Arlington, Va. (Bishop O'Connell) and Jon Bair/Hutchinson, Kan. (Buhler) each fell in their respective matches putting the score at 3-3 after singles.
    
Longwood only came away with one win in the double matches as Garcia de Andoain and Cardoso defeated the team of Campbell and Clay 9-8 at the number spot.  The Lancer teams of Lindsley/Heird and Bair and Barajas-Alexander both fell in their matches giving the Dukes the 4-3 road win.
