Men's Tennis Drops 7-0 At Hampton

HAMPTON, Va.-- The Longwood men’s tennis recorded a 7-0 loss at Hampton on Wednesday afternoon in Hampton, Va..  The Lancers (4-4) were swept in singles action and won the number two doubles in the match against the Pirates.  Longwood will return to action on Saturday, March 24, when they host in-state rival James Madison in a 11:00 a.m. match.
    
The only win in the match for Longwood came in the number two spot in doubles as Carlos Garcia de Andoain/ Madrid, Spain (Liceo Sorolla ‘C’) and David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) defeated Hampton’s team of Andre Nogueira and Joao Sacomandi 8-7. Brandon Lindsley/Woodbridge (Woodbridge) and partner Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) fell 8-5 while Jon Bair/Hutchinson, Kan. (Buhler) and Mani Barajas-Alexander/Arlington (Bishop O’Connell) also fell 8-5 in their respective match.
   
In singles action, Garcia de Andoain took his match with Seo-Jae Chang to three sets, falling in the first 3-6 but winning the second 7-6 before falling 1-6 in the third.  Cardoso and Lindsley fell in two sets in the tow and three spots, while Heird battled Nogueira to three sets winning the first 6-2 before dropping the next two 5-7 and 5-10.  Barajas-Alexander and Austin Brawley/Virginia Beach (Frank W. Cox) each fell in their respective matches to wrap up action.
