FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University took a 6-1 women’s tennis decision past visiting Howard University Saturday in Farmville.  The Lancers improved to 2-2 this season, and will play again on Sunday, March 5, at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg beginning at 3 p.m..
    
Against Howard, Longwood got wins in singles from junior Romana Bucur/Brasov, Romania (Joan Mesota) at #1 (6-3, 6-2), sophomore Elena Triebskorn/Heddesheim, Germany (Carl-Benz Gymnasium) at #2 (6-1, 6-1), junior Lexi Torrice/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) at #4 (6-4, 6-4), sophomore Brittany Huddleston/Roanoke (Cave Spring) at #5 (6-0, 6-1), and senior Jessica Farr/Williamsburg (Lafayette) at #6 (6-2, 1-6, [10-7]).  Freshman Ashley Melson/Virginia Beach (Kellam) lost at #3 singles (1-6, 4-6)
    
In doubles, Bucur and Torrice won at #1 (8-4), as did Triebskorn and Melson at #2 (8-1), along with Huddleston and Farr at #3 (8-5).
