FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University took a 7-0 women’s tennis decision past visiting North Carolina A&T Saturday in Farmville. The Lancers improved to 3-3 this season, and will play again March 21 at Radford University of the Big South Conference beginning at 3 p.m..
Against North Carolina A&T, Longwood got wins in singles from junior Romana Bucur/Brasov, Romania (Joan Mesota) at #1 (6-3, 6-1), sophomore Elena Triebskorn/Heddesheim, Germany (Carl-Benz Gymnasium) at #2 (6-3, 6-0), freshman Ashley Melson/Virginia Beach (Kellam) at #3 (6-4, 6-0), junior Lexi Torrice/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) at #4 (6-1, 6-4), sophomore Brittany Huddleston/Roanoke (Cave Spring) at #5 (6-3, 6-0), and senior Jessica Farr/Williamsburg (Lafayette) at #6 (6-0, 6-3). In addition, sophomore Jenny Kile/Richmond (James River) won an exhibition match (8-1).
In doubles, Bucur and Torrice won at #1 (8-0), as did Triebskorn and Melson at #2 (8-0), along with Huddleston and Farr at #3 (8-1).
