RADFORD, Va. -- Radford University took a 3-0 decision past visiting Longwood University in women's soccer Friday night at Cupp Memorial Stadium in Radford. The host Highlanders (1-1) led 2-0 at halftime en route to the home victory. The Lancers (0-3) will play again Monday, September 6, at Virginia Tech.
Radford went ahead early when Jonita Hooker scored the opening goal at 15:03, unassisted. The Highlanders made it 2-0 when Erin Cozza also tallied an unassisted goal at 40:08. RU added its third goal at 48:40 as Erin Crane notched a goal off a cross from Brianna Kipper.
Radford took a 9-4 advantage in shots, though neither team had any corner opportunities. The Highlanders had two keepers combine for one save on the night. Longwood freshmen keepers Anne Whitmore/Charlottesville (Western Albemarle) and Cassandra Dick/Virginia Beach (Kempsville) each played a half for the Lancers with one and two saves, respectively. Junior Melissa Cary/Bristow (Brentsville) had two shots to lead the Lancers.
