FARMVILLE, Va. -- Longwood University took a 4-3 women’s collegiate tennis victory past visiting Mary Washington College Sunday at the Lancer Courts. The Lancers are now 1-1 and will play at NCAA Division I High Point University on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. in North Carolina.Longwood won three singles and two of three doubles matches, for the one-point for doubles. In singles, freshman Romana Bucur/Brasov, Romania (Joan Mseota) won at #1 (6-3, 6-4), as did senior Danielle Hess/Bel Air, Md. (Bel Air) at #2 (6-1, 6-4), and freshman Lexi Torrice/Richmond (Douglas Freeman) at #3 (6-4, 6-2). In doubles, Hess and Torrice won at #1 (8-3), while Bucur and freshman Jenn Edwards/Newport News (Hampton Roads Academy) won at #2 (8-6).
